ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has denied press reports claiming that will meet today to discuss Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Party (PPP) Pakistan People call for resignation of the members of the commission.
“No meeting has been called today on the issue of the resignation of the ECP ‘members,” ECP spokesman in a statement. However, the spokesman said the Chief Election Commissioner would hold informal consultations with other members of PAE. Members of the PAC announced seedling discuss Imran Khan,” he added. Previously, it was reported that ECPs will meet on Monday to discuss PTI and PPP demand for resignations of members of the commission.
PTI and PPP members demanded to resign for what they believe were involved in rigging in the last general election.
Imran Khan has asked PAC members to resign otherwise would take to the streets against them on 4 October.
The PPP leadership has decided it will field candidates in the midterm elections only after the resignation of members of the PAC.
