RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff Raheel Sharif today expressed great concern in recent US air strikes inside Pakistan, and described the attacks as “counterproductive”,
The army chief expressed these views while meeting US ambassador in Pakistan David Hale, who called on him at GHQ.
“The situation created by the impact of US drone in Balochistan on 22 May 2016 entered into discussion,” according to ISPR.
“While expressing grave concern at the attack drone, COAS said that such acts of violations of sovereignty are detrimental to relations between the two countries and are counterproductive to the peace process underway for regional stability”, ISPR said in a statement.
COAS said that Pakistan’s efforts, successes and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism have been unprecedented.
