KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has announced to organize a protest today outside the headquarters Rangers raids against ‘unwarranted’ and arrests of party workers and supporters.
According to a statement issued by the principal decision-making organ of the Coordination Committee-party, the protest rally will be held from Liaquatabad-10 today.
The decision was taken at meetings of the Coordination Committee held simultaneously in London and Pakistan.
The committee said that the MQM is a liberal and democratic party in the country and added that it is their legal right to launch a peaceful protest.
It is pertinent to note here that the Rangers yesterday arrested more than 20 MQM workers during their raid in Korangi area of Karachi, according to sources.
Sources said paramilitary troops raided the office of the MQM sector and arrested more than 20 party workers including a candidate for the local elections.
Workers arrested MQM Korangi area included by Waseem and other party activists, sources said.
Women MQM workers took to the streets against the incursion and demanded the immediate release of party workers.
